SHO found dead in PS

SRINAGAR, Feb 17: A police officer was found dead in his living room inside a police station in the frontier district of Kupwara this morning.
SP Handwara Choudhary Aslam, told Excelsior that Sub-Inspector Ghulam Nabi, who was Station House Officer of Police Station Kalamabad, was found dead in his living room inside the Police Station this morning.
The SP said that police have registered a case and are investigating the cause of his death. He ruled out any militancy angle into his death, adding the circumstantial evidence revealed that he has died by accidental fire.
Choudhary ruled out any murder angle into the police officers death and said that either the death is intentional or accidental. He said that chances of suicide are very less as he had no family, office or health problem.
The SP said that the police officer had received two bullets in his head leading to his death on the spot. He said that his service rifle was seized by the police and post-mortem of the body was conducted before it was handed over to his family for burial.
Senior police officers including DIG North Kashmir took part in his last rites that were held at his village Zaloora under full police honours.
The deceased police officer’s son, Aijaz Ahmad, said that his father had no health or family problem and ruled out his suicide. He said that his father was alright and he called him last night at around 9 p.m. He demanded investigations into the death of his father.
The police officer has four sons and a daughter and his family members said that he had no problem at home or enmity with any one. He had 34 years of service and was hailing from Bafarnag village in Drugmulla and was living at his in-laws at village Zaloora since in marriage for past 30years.
