JAMMU Apr 19: Benazir Altaf (28), the elder daughter of senior National Conference leader and former Minister, Mian Altaf Ahmed, passed in a hospital at Srinagar this afternoon.
Party sources said that she was seriously ill for the past several months. She remained under treatment in Mumbai for some months and had been recently admitted in SKIMS Soura, Srinagar. She breathed her last at around 3 pm there.
A mother of two kids, she was elder daughter of Mian Altaf and had been married in Rajouri. The burial will take place at Babanagri, Kangan on Saturday at 3 pm, the sources said.
Senior NC leaders expressed deep grief and sorrow over the sad demise of Mian Altaf’s daughter and conveyed condolences to the bereaved family. They prayed for peace to the departed soul and strength to the family to bear this irreparable loss.
Besides Provincial president Devender Singh Rana, those who conveyed condolences to the bereaved family included former Ministers Surjeet Singh Slathia, Ajay Kumar Sadhotra, Abdul Gani Malik, Sajjad Ahmed Kichloo, Syed Mushtaq Bukhari, Khalid Najeeb Suhrawardy, Rampal, Javed Rana, Rachhpal Singh (Ex-MLAs), Rattan Lal Gupta and Vijay Lochan.
