JAMMU, Apr 19: Police today achieved a major success in its initiative against vehicle lifters when a team of police post Nehru Market recovered eight motorcycles stolen from different places and arrested three motor vehicle lifters.
“On April 16, a complaint had been received at police post Nehru Market regarding the theft of a motorcycle bearing registration number JK21D-3676 from Bikram Chowk area, based on which a case FIR No 99/2019 under Section 379 RPC was registered at police station Gandhi Nagar,” a police official said.
He said accordingly, a team led by Incharge, police post Nehru Market, Sub Inspector Vikas Jasrotia, immediately swung into action and started rounding up suspects. On further investigation, the team arrested three persons, namely Rafi son of Mohd Qazi, resident of Lane No 6, Belicharana, Mohd Saleem son of Mohd Munshi, resident of Kalaali Tiba (RS Pura) and Mohd Akram alias Akri, son of Mohd Hussain, resident of Kheyariyan (Gole Gujral).
“On their disclosure, the motorcycle referred to in the FIR, along with seven other motor cycles, was recovered,” the police official said, adding, all three arrested persons were addicted to drugs and indulged in crime to fulfill their addiction. Further investigation is underway, he added.
The arrest and recovery was made by the police team under the supervision of SHO, police station Gandhi Nagar, Inspector Sunil Jasrotia under the overall guidance of Deputy SP Sunnaiya Wani, SDPO Gandhi Nagar.
