‘Technical inputs must for constructing Bank Track in skating’

Excelsior Sports Correspondent
JAMMU, Feb 20: The new skating Bank Track is to be constructed at the existing Skating Rink at MA Stadium and the work in this regard has already been initiated by the Government. This initiative will certainly solve the long pending problem and help the budding skaters to hone their skill by using standard infrastructure similar to that used at the higher levels.
This was stated by the members of Skaters Parents’ Association while talking to EXCELSIOR and expressing satisfaction over the initiative of the concerned authorities with regard to construction of new Bank Rink in Jammu.
While describing the initiative a great move, the members of the Association said that development of a standard quality rink will not only help the skaters of this medal winning sports discipline to polish their skill, but will go a long way in helping the State to produce International stuff.
They, however, were of the opinion that the construction work needs technical inputs in connection with length and breadth of the rink as they fear that the present rink does not justify the size of a standard rink.
The experts believe that 200 meters track is a standard size for the Bank Track for quality practice at the domestic level, which will also help J&K to host National Level events in the State.
In this context, they said a deputation of Skaters Parents Association called on Minister for Sports Taj Mohi-Ud-Din and discussed technicalities regarding length and breadth of the Bank Rink in his Office Chambers at Civil Secretariat, here.
The deputation apprised the Minister about the talent this sports discipline possesses and about the need to construct a standard rink in this part of the State which has produced ace skaters like Mir Daniyal, Divij Balotra, Paras Thakur, Dhananjay Singh Charak, Hiteshwar Singh and Nitika Thakur etc.
They said that after giving a patient hearing, the Minister assured and promised them of all possible help in grooming the most medal winning sports discipline by providing proper and latest infrastructure to the skaters of the State.
Those who talked to EXCELSIOR included Sudhir Singh, president, Skaters Parents’ Association, Jasbir Singh, Irshad Masoom, Sunil Sharma and Raman Sharma.
