JAMMU, Apr 20: 19th Jammu District Sport Climbing Championship will be organized by Mountaineering Association of J&K in collaboration with Sprawling Buds ICSE School, Bantalab, Jammu on May 3, 2019. About 200 climbers from various institutions of Jammu district are likely to vie for honors in the competition which may extend to the next day in case the competitions are not completed on the first day.
The competitions to be conducted on the pre fabricated 40ft high Tenzing Norgay Sport Climbing Wall in Sprawling Buds ICSE School premises will be held in eight categories of Men, Women (born in 2002 and earlier), Boys, Girls (born in 2003,2004 & 2005); Sub Jr. Boys / Girls (born in 2006 and 2007) and Mini Boys/Girls (born in 2008 and after). Whereas Men, Women, Boys, Girls, Sub Junior Boys/Girls will compete both in ‘lead climbing’ and ’speed climbing’ the Mini Boys and Girls shall participate in ‘lead climbing’ only.
For further information interested climbers/ institutions should contact the Joint Secretary of Mountaineering Association of J&K Shawetica Khajuria on 7006099855 on or before May 1, 2019. On the spot registration will also be done at Sprawling Buds ICSE School from 7.30 am to 8 am on May 3, 2019. However, it may be noted that medal winners of any Zonal Competition are not eligible for this competition
Shawetica Khajuria, a qualified national judge in sport climbing will be the President of the Jury of the competition, Sonam Sidharth, an executive member of the Association, is the Organising Secretary.
Technical and logistic support, however, will be provided by Indian Mountaineering Foundation North Zone Committee, New Delhi. The Championship is being sponsored by J&K State Sports Council.
