JAMMU, Apr 20: Chief Executive Officer (CEO) JKCA, Syed Ashiq Hussain Bukhari inaugurated the Selection Matches of Physically Challenged Cricketers for the World Cup as the chief guest, while Jang Bahadur Singh Jamwal, former Judge and Member JKCA presided over the function.
Ravi Chouhan, Founder Secretary All India Physically Challenged Cricket Association; Rajesh Gill, Honourary President of J&K PCCA; Rajesh Dhar, Honourary Secretary of J&K PCCA; Sukhjinder Singh, Director J&K PCCA; besides Prasad Desai and Deepak Jahadav, Former Ranji Trophy Players of Mumbai and Selectors of the event were present on the occasion.
Mr Bukhari while speaking on the occasion lavished praise on the organizers for conducting such a mega event in collaboration with JKCA, which involved the Physically Challenged Cricketers from all over the country. He said that he felt honoured to be part of this event and contribute something for the specially-abled cricketers who are going to participate in the World Cup to be held in England.
He assured all help to Physically Challenged Cricketers and said that JKCA will conduct more such events in future also.
Speaking on the occasion, Jang Bahadur Singh Jamwal said that providing opportunity to specially-abled sportspersons is the best way to serve the cause of sports.
Ravi Chouhan extended thanks to JKCA for providing them all kinds of facilities.
Earlier, Rajesh Gill, Former Ranji Trophy Player and Honourary President J&K PCCA presented welcome address, while Rajesh Dhar, Secretary J&K PCCA conducted the proceedings of the programme.
Three teams of Physically Challenged Cricketers participating in the selection trial matches have been named after the martyred CRPF soldiers who lost their lives on February 14, 2019 in Pulwama attack.
In the inaugural match, Martyr Ramesh Yadav Eleven defeated Martyr Naseer Ahmed Eleven by 5 wickets.
Batting first, Martyr Naseer Ahmed Eleven managed to score decent total of 159 runs in the allotted 20 overs, losing 8 wickets in the process. Mohd Azhar top scored wit 31 runs, while Majid and Rovesh contributed 24 and 20 runs to the total respectively. From Martyr Ramesh Yadav team, Ajay took 3 wickets, Vinay bagged 2, while Raju and Vinod claimed 1 wicket each.
In reply, Martyr Ramesh Yadav Eleven scored 163 runs for the loss of 5 wickets, thus won the match by 5 wickets. Waseem top scored with 50 runs, while Vinay Yadav contributed 34 runs and Sushil Baradwaj chipped in with 16 runs. From Martyr Naseer Ahmed Eleven, Nadeem took 3 wickets, while Rovesh picked 2 wickets.
Saleem Ur Rehman, Sadiq and Sanju were the officials of the match.
