JAMMU, Apr 27: In a meeting Secretary Agriculture Production Department, Manzoor Ahmad Lone here today reviewed Sub-Mission on Agriculture Extension (SMAE-ATMA) and Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana (PMKSY) schemes.
Physical and financial achievements in 2018-19 under SMAE-ATMA and PMKSY schemes were reviewed to scrutinize 2019-20 action plans under these schemes for submission to State Level Sanctioning Committee (SLSC).
The Secretary asked the Head of Departments to make comprehensive plans to produce quality high yielding and hybrid seeds of various agricultural crops within the State.
He directed the officers of SKUAST to submit proposals for establishment of Seed Quality Control Laboratories.
The Secretary also emphasized upon converging the efforts of agriculture, horticulture and other allied sectors for implementation of various Centrally Sponsored Schemes (CSS) for the welfare of farming community.
He stressed on proper identification of beneficiaries and timely utilization of funds and to create a visible impact on ground under various components.
The State Level Executive Committee (SLEC) meeting of CSS including Sub-Mission on Agricultural Mechanization (SMAM), Sub-Mission on Seeds & Planting Material (SMSP) under National Mission on Agriculture Extension & Technology (NMAE&T) were also held on the occasion.
Lone emphasized to raise the income of the farmers by mobilizing the farming community and organizing farmers into Self Help Groups (SHGs) and Farmers Produces Organizations (FPOs) and through promotion of local specialty crops, organic farming, production of quality seeds, diversified and Integrated Farming System for doubling the farmer’s income.
