KAKRYAL, Apr 27: The Governing Body of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi College of Nursing (SMVDCoN), Kakryal, met here today and took several important decisions for developing this institution as centre of excellence in nursing education.
The meeting, chaired by Maj Gen Shiv Kumar Sharma, Member of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board and Chairman of the Governing Body of the College, was attended by Simrandeep Singh, Chief Executive Officer, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board; Dr (Brig) Man Mohan Harjai, Administrator of the SMVDCoN and Dr J P Singh, Senior Consultant, Neuro Surgery, SMVDNSH.
The Chairman and Members of the Governing Body also inspected the work on the upcoming two hostel blocks, residential accommodation and the link road to the various buildings planned for the college. They expressed satisfaction at the pace of construction of the infrastructure which will come up as per the envisaged timelines in consonance with the emerging requirements.
The meeting reviewed the arrangements being made for conducting the Entrance Test for admission of students for the 4th Batch of B Sc Nursing Course (2019-20) for which the last date for submission of online application forms is 31st May, 2019. The Entrance Test will be held on 9th June at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University and the classes will commence in mid July 2019.
The GB also discussed and approved the draft rules for pursuing Ph D Programme by the faculty of the SMVDCoN. Further, the meeting held discussion on the modalities for starting M Sc Nursing Programme in this college by 2020 when the first batch of B Sc Nursing students of the Session 2016-17 will pass out, as part of its 10-year Vision Plan. The GB also discussed the modalities for organising Continuing Nursing Education by the SMVDCoN next month.
At the outset, the Governing Body expressed gratitude to Dr Devi Shetty, Founder and Chairman Narayana Health, for offering first placement to the toppers of B Sc Nursing of the first Batch of SMVDCoN, scheduled to pass out in 2020, in the NH Hospital at Cayman Island in the Caribbean Sea, which is just 700 km from Miami, USA.
