RO Jammu reviews arrangements for counting of votes

JAMMU, May 1: Returning Officer Jammu Parliamentary constituency, Ramesh Kumar, today convened a meeting of AROs, Nodal Officers and senior officers of concerned departments to review the arrangements for counting of votes polled for recently held Parliamentary Elections.
The Returning Officer asked for establishment of two counting halls and control rooms at Polytechnic College and MAM College Jammu for counting of votes scheduled to be conducted on 23rd of May. He also asked for provision for media gallery and waiting hall for election agents and candidates.
The Returning Officer asked the district administration to put in place an appropriate mechanism to ensure that the counting process is conducted in most professional and efficient manner. He emphasized on elaborate plan for security arrangements, deployment of staff, counting of votes and mechanism for declaration of results.
It was informed that mobile phones or other electronic gadgets are prohibited in the counting centers besides no person without valid ID proof will be allowed to enter the premises of the counting centers. Likewise, the EVMs will be moved from strong room to the counting center through a specific route and would be escorted by the designated officers as per the standard procedure, he added.
The meeting was attended by the ADCs, Assistant Retuning Officers, Nodal officers and other officers from various other departments.
