Army organizes medical camp in Rajouri

JAMMU, May 5: For addressing the health related problems of the people from remote areas of the region, an Army unit located in Rajouri sector organized a medical camp at village Khah in district Rajouri today.
Khah is a remote village in Kandi belt of Rajouri district and is devoid of basic medical facilities. The local population has to travel for long distances through difficult terrain to get basic medical facilities. Such initiative by the Army has not only enabled patients to be treated closer to their homes but also helped in increasing awareness about cleanliness, hygiene and healthy living.
Medical Officer along with Nursing assistants of Army conducted the camp. More than 198 patients, including men, women and children were provided Medical treatment and checkup, by the Medical staff.
Pregnant and lactating ladies were educated about the benefits of breast feeding, pre-natal care and the care of newborn babies. Medicines were also distributed among the patients. The Medical staff also provided counseling on hygiene and sanitation, importance of safe drinking water, modern day health lifestyle related diseases preventive measures to avoid contagious diseases and benefits of family planning. The Medical camp was well received by the local populace.
Speaking on the occasion on behalf of the locals, Sarpanch of the village expressed his gratitude and appreciation towards the Army for its pledge towards addressing the health problems of the locals. He said that the Army has always worked towards bringing good health and happiness to the needy village folk and the region as a whole.
