UDHAMPUR, May 9: An ITBP jawan committed suicide by shooting himself with his Service Rifle in the wee hours at ITBP Center Chak, Udhampur, here today.
The deceased has been identified as ITBP 15 Battalion Constable (number- 140301032), Bhupinder Singh (25), son of Puran Chand of Dhaka, Pathankot (Punjab). He was presently posted at ITBP Center Chak Udhampur. Cause of provocation behind the extreme step could not be ascertained so far.
Police said the dead body of ITBP jawan was shifted to District Hospital Udhampur for postmortem and other legal formalities. The Rehambal Police has registered a case in this regard and started investigation.
