UDHAMPUR, Feb 24: Pradesh Youth Congress general secretary, R S Pathania has demanded Scheduled Tribe (ST) status for Koli community and formation of Advisory Board for Gaddis and Sippi communities in the State.
In a press statement issued here today, the PYC leader urged upon the Chief Minister for immediate inclusion of Kolis in ST category as Sippis and Kolis are one caste with identical living, culture, customs, language, living style and nature of livelihood. It is disheartening that Gaddis and Sippis are enjoying ST status but Kolis are ignored. He further demanded setting up of Advisory Board for Gaddis and Sippis on the pattern of Gujjar-Bakerwal Board. He alleged discriminatory treatment with these communities as they belong to only Jammu region.
