REASI, June 3: Windstorm here this evening claimed life of a six-year old child and critically injured his mother when a tree fell on them at village Surukote in Arnas.
The deceased child, identified as Aamir Wani, son of Abdul Ghani of Surunkote, had gone to local market along with his mother Razia Begum when a big pine tree fell on them because of sudden windstorm in the region.
The child reportedly died on the spot while his mother was shifted to District Hospital Reasi for treatment. Her condition was stated to be stable and out of danger now.
Meanwhile, dead body of a non-local, who had been missing from Ramban since last month, was found in Chenab river near Salal Dam in Reasi. The deceased was identified as Mohd Kalam (37), son of Mohd Lateef of Bihar.
The body was spotted by some locals at Dam Top area of Salal Dam. On being informed, Police with the help of swimmers fished out the body and handed it over to his legal heirs after getting the postmortem conducted.
