Youngsters Hiteswhar, Meenal, Riya, Shreya among awardes

JAMMU, June 11: The initiative of Jammu and Kashmir Olympic Association (JKOA) has brought cheer to the outstanding sportspersons of the State as Director General of Jammu and Kashmir Police, Dilbag Singh today presented Rangil Singh Award for Sports Excellence for the year 2017-18 to 18 such individuals, who have excelled and contributed for the development of sports in the State.
The function was organised by the J&K Olympic Association (JKOA). The Award was constituted in the year 2016 after the death of JKOA president and former Minister, Rangil Singh. Last year 16 persons were honoured from different sports disciplines. The award carries Rs 21,000and Rs 15,000 cash, memento and a certificate of honour.
Member Legislative Council, Ashok Khajuria, Mayor Jammu, Chander Mohan Gupta and Inspector General of Police (IG), Armed, Danesh Rana were guests of honour.
The General Secretary of the JKOA, Dr Ashutosh Sharma presented a detailed report.
President of the JKOA, Dushyant Sharma (SSP J&K Police), who earlier presented the welcome address, also escorted the chief guest in presenting the awards.
