RAMBAN, June 25: Police arrested a narcotics smuggler and recovered 500 grams heroin from his possession.
As per police sources, on specific information, a police team led by DySP (Operations) Banihal Arvind Badgal and assisted by SHO Banihal Inspector Abid Hussain Bukhari laid a naka near T Chowk and intercepted a pedestrian, who was moving under suspicious circumstances.
During checking, police team recovered 500 grams heroin from the possession of the pedestrian and arrested him.
The accused has been identified as Amin Mohammad, son of Rashid Ahmed of Krimchi District Udhampur.
During preliminary investigation, the accused disclosed that he had bought the consignment from Kashmir for selling among the youth of Banihal and Jammu.
A case under FIR Number 86/19 under section 8/21 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Banihal and investigation started.
The arrest was made under the supervision of Additional SP Ramban Sanjay Parihar and SSP Ramban Anita Sharma.
