JAMMU, July 2: A meeting of the Executive body of Joint Front Jagti (JFJ) township was held under the leadership of Roshan Lal Raina in which grave concern was expressed over the scarcity of drinking water in the township.
The meeting said that water supply remains suspended for days together and inmates are supplied contaminated water. Raina demanded that the Government should explore the possibility of handing over the water supply scheme of Jagti to Public Health Engineering Department.
A K Sadhu another representative of the organisation said that successive governments have failed to look into the plight of hapless migrants from Valley. The unemployment is grave problem among the displaced youth as the community lost all sources of livelihood after the mass exodus in the Valley. The highly qualified youth have become over-aged and they are in desperation as they were not provided any assistance by the State or Central Governments for setting up of their small business units under various self employment schemes.
The meeting appealed both Central and State Governments to give the benefit of all Centrals schemes to migrants also. And the KPs putting up in Valley be also given migrant status. He also asked the migrants not be lured by the rumours about return as it is a propaganda by some vested elements in the community. These people have not been authorised by Central, State Government or the Relief Organisation in this regard.
The meeting demanded that an ambulance be provided in the Jagti Hospital.
