JAMMU, July 13: The semifinal matches of Divisional Level Inter-District Cricket Tournament were played at Sports Stadium Anantnag, Sports Stadium Mattan and HSS Bijbehara today.
In Under-19 boys’ semifinals, Anantnag defeated Budgam and Ganderbal outplayed Pulwama, thus qualified for the finals, while in Under-17 boys semifinals again Anantnag qualified for finals by defeating district Baramulla and in another match of last four stage in this category, Srinagar drubbed Kulgam and made its place in the finals.
The finals of the tournament will be played tomorrow at HSS Bijbehara where position holders will be honoured in a simple function.
Meanwhile, the Department has renamed the ongoing tournament as Jahangir Memorial Divisional Level Under-19 Cricket Tournament.
It is pertinent to mention here that unfortunate incident occurred on the other day during a match between district Budgam and Baramulla, wherein Under-19 boy Jahangir lost his life when hit by the ball while executing a pull shot.
