5 narco smugglers arrested, 64 kgs of poppy straw, 8 gms of heroin seized

KATHUA July 23 : In a major breakthrough against narco smuggling menace , Kathua police has seized 64 Kilograms of Poppy Straw eight grams of Heroin during the surprise checking at Rajbagh and Kathua and nabbed five wanted narco smugglers.
As per reports a team of Police Station, Rajbagh in the intervening night during checking duty at Rajbagh Chowk NHW intercepted one Alto car bearing registration number JK08G-0507 apprehended two persons namely Gurcharan Singh @ Vicky S/o Puran Singh, R/O Rajbagh and Sunil Kumar @ Sunny, S/o Mani Ram, R/o Hardo Muthi Rajbagh and seized 12 Kilograms of Poppy Straw from their possession.
Police Station Rajbagh registered a case FIR No 146/2019 U/S 8/15/29 NDPS ACT and started investigation.
During questioning both the accused revealed that they have also delivered consignment of Poppy Straw to their accomplice namely Manpreet Singh R/o Ramnagar Colony opposite CTM Kathua.
On the disclosure, Police team of Police Station Rajbagh jointly with Police Station Kathua raided the house of the Manpreet in presence of Executive Magistrate Ist Class and recovered around 52 Kilograms of Poppy Straw like substance. Police seized the narcotics and arrested the third accused. Police recovered a total of 64 Kilograms of Poppy Straw. Further questioning of the accused is going on.
As district police Kathua has tightened its noose on narcotic smugglers and mafia, Police Station Kathua during a raid seized eight grams of heroin and arrested two notorious drug peddlers wanted for spread of drugs in the area.
Team of Police Station Kathua apprehended two drug peddlers in Kathua namely Rocky Singh S/o Rakesh Kumar R/o Mahi Chack Morh Kathua and Ravinder Kumari, W/o Lakshman Dass R/o Chack Drab Khan and seized eight grams of heroin form their possession from a place near Kuliyan Kathua. Both these accused persons were travelling in an Alto car without number. Police also seized the Alto car.
Police Station Kathua registered a case FIR No. 240/19 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act against both the accused. Further investigation into the case is going on.
