SRINAGAR, Mar 4: A Polo team from Drass (Kargil), sponsored by a voluntary organization, Drass Polo Promotion (DPP), left for Imphal to participate in the XXIII Governor’s Horse Polo Cup being organized by the Manipur Polo Association from March 7.
In a press note, Muhammad Yusuf, Provincial Secretary, DPP said that the team comprises of Ahmadulla (Captain), Ghulam Mustafa, Mohamad Younis and Murtaza Ali. Muhammad Amin is the Coach cum Manager of the team. The matches will be played on 4-Aside format. Yusuf said that Horse Polo is gaining more popularity in Drass area of Kargil District adding that there are 24 Horse Polo Clubs in Drass.
It would be in place to mention here that in 2012 the Drass Polo Promotion organized Lalit Suri Memorial Polo Cup in June, which was followed by Vijay Divas Cup in July, and Chief Minister’s Cup in September.
