JAMMU, July 31: Navalgund Niranjan of Karnataka won Jaiveer Singh FIDE Rating Chess Championship and received a cash award of Rs 20000, besides a glittering trophy at IDPS School Bathindi, here.
The event was organized by Crown Trust under the banner of All J&K Chess Association and hosted by IDPS School.
Hemanth Raam of Tamil Nadu got the second position and a cash award of Rs10,000 and a trophy, while Garv Gaur of Haryana bagged third spot with a cash award of Rs 5000 and a trophy.
Others who won special awards and cash prizes included Walde Harshal, Arvindu, Shashi Pal Sharma,Sonali Manhas, Karan Pandita, Swastik Singhal, Pranav Abrol, Ashutosh Jamwal and Manasavi Gupta.
A total cash prize of Rs 60000 was distributed among the winners on the valedictory function.
Prominent guests on the occasion included ARTO Shammi Sharma, Taranjeet Singh Tony, MD IDPS Suminder Singh and Swarn Singh Choudhary and Academic Director IDPS Randeep Wazir, President AJKCA Atul Kumar Gupta, DySP Prosecution Raj Kumar,Baldev Raj, Kuljeet Singh Jamwal and Vikas Nanda.
Nitin Shenvi was the chief Arbiter of the event while Anil Kotwal,Bindu Pathania and Sumit Grover were Deputy Arbiters.
The event was held under the overall supervision of Atul Kumar Gupta, President AJKCA, while Raj Kumar, DySP Prosecution was the Organizing Secretary of this event. Suminder Singh MD IDPS personally monitored all the logistic arrangements while Madhu Abrol was the Coordinator of this event.
Some lucky players achieved FIDE Ratings from this event.
