Mankotia organises 10th Marathon Run against drugs

UDHAMPUR, Aug 4: With an aim to channelise the energy of youngsters in a positive direction, Chief Patron Dogra Kranti Dal (NGO), Former MLA and NPP President, Balwant Singh Mankotia today organised 10th Marathon Run in series against drug abuse which commenced from Jaganoo at 6:30 am and concludes at Talmara, here.
The Marathon in which around 300 youth participated was organised by NGO Dogra Kranti Dal despite heavy rain.
Showing deep concern over increasing drugs at Udhampur on such fast rate, Mankotia said that making Udhampur drug free was his prime goal and organising such events is the way to do so.
Mankotia expressed his anxiety over the spread of ‘Chitta’ named drug at such a fast rate during the past three years due to which many of the youngsters have lost their lives.
He informed that during the previous days he has made door to door awareness campaign against drugs and also made huge rallies to eradicate such a menace and to take stern action against drug peddlers.
Later, Mankotia also felicitated first three winners with a cash prize.
The 1st prize was bagged by Arun Kumar who was presented a cash prize of Rs 3100, while Farjat Ali clinched 2nd spot with a cash prize of Rs 2100 and the 3rd prize was bagged by Amandeep with a cash prize of Rs 1100.
Sarpanch Sanjeet Sharma, Naib Sarpanch Mohan Lal, besides Panches Rakesh Kumar, Gopal Krishan and Radhey Sham were present on the occasion.
