J&K wrestler Sujjan Ali brings laurel to State

JAMMU, Mar 5: J&K wrestler Sujjan Ali brought laurels to the State by winning bronze medal in 96 kg category in Mahan Bharat Kesari and All India Invitational Indian Style Senior National Championship held at Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh.
Sujjan won the first round by defeating wrestler Majahuddin Qureshi of Madhya Pradesh, whereas in the second and third bouts, he defeated Abhishek Solanki and Puran Singh of Andhra Pradesh respectively.
In the semifinal, Sukhbir of NCR outplayed Sujjan and the bronze medal was conferred to the latter.
Meanwhile, other wrestlers namely Sachin Kumar and Rakesh Kumar thrashed their opponents in the first two round, but had to face defeat in the third round. Shammi Kumar and Aniyat Ali won the first round of their matches, but were defeated in the second round.
The State wrestling team was accompanied by Shiv Kumar Sharma, president, J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association, Rakesh Khajuria, general secretary, Bansi Lal Tidyal, Technical Officer, Mulkh Raj Sharma, Coach and Prem Kumar, Manager.
