Stung by Modi’s masterstroke, Cong resorts to misinformation: Brig Gupta

JAMMU, Aug 8: While the entire nation is rejoicing over the historic decision of the Modi Government to end the special status of J&K and reorganize it into two Union Territories (UTs), Congress is a divided house because the Nehru loyalists are not ready to accept that both Articles 370 and 35-A were blunders committed by Nehru which were responsible for the ongoing turmoil in Kashmir.
The local Congress leadership under the influence of Ghulam Nabi Azad has resorted to a misinformation campaign to mislead the people because its leadership has been the beneficiary of the blatant misuse of the two impugned articles stated Brig (retd) Anil Gupta, State spokesperson of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
By comparing the reorganized State to a Municipality Congress leadership is only displaying its ignorance of the different governance models in the country. Keeping in view, the prevailing security environment and the vested interest of the Kashmir based political parties in continuation of Pak sponsored proxy war, it was the best possible option to ensure return to normalcy and sustaining lasting peace said Brig Gupta. He further added that the Home Minister has already stated on the floor of the Parliament that as and when the peace is fully restored statehood will be re-granted.
“Tough situations need difficult decisions in national interest and Modi has proved time and again that he has the political courage and intellectual vision to take such decisions. Congress during its tenure believed in appeasement, rather catching the bull by the horn. That is why they are not able to digest this bold and visionary decision of Modi Government,” asserted Brig Gupta.
Congress stalwart and a member of the ex-royal family, Dr Karan Singh has stated on numerous occasions that the composition of J&K State was not natural due to the three regions being geographically, demographically and culturally totally distinct from each other. They were held together as a State by his ancestors being a princely State. In a recent interview he said, “the three units left with us namely Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh-have always had a rocky and uneasy relationship since there has never been fair division of power.” To restore the division of power and bring an end to Pak sponsored terrorism, the present re-organisation is the best possible solution asserted Brig Gupta.
Brig Gupta also refuted the charge of Congress that BJP had promised a separate State for Jammu. He said Congress must feel ashamed for spreading such falsehood for sake of garnering votes for its revival. BJP has always been a secular party and unlike Congress does not believe in dividing the State on religious lines. BJP believes in equality and promises to ensure the same to the residents of both the regions stated Brig Gupta.
Brig Gupta also took to task Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad to insulting the Kashmiris by terming those who were seen interacting with NSA, Ajit Doval as “paid stooges.” Azad needs to tender an apology to the nationalist Kashmiris, demanded Brig Gupta.
