JAMMU, Aug 8: Lt Gen Ranbir Singh, Army Commander, Northern Command, accompanied by the White Knight Corps Commander, Lt Gen Paramjit Singh visited forward posts in Bhimber Gali Sector and hinterland posts in Chanderkot Sector to review the operational preparedness and the prevalent security situation in view of revocation of Article 370 in J&K.
During the visit to the forward posts in Bhimber Gali Sector, the Army Commander was briefed by the Commanders on ground about the current operational situation, prevailing security scenario and the preparedness of the formations in dealing with the emerging security situation. The Army Commander was also briefed on the measures being taken by the Formation to meet the challenges of increased ceasefire violations by Pakistan since Aug 5 and the swift and effective retaliatory measures being undertaken by the troops.
He was also briefed on the actions taken to thwart the evil designs of the enemy through superior and aggressive domination of Line of Control being exercised by the troops and the defensive measures put in place.
During the visit to the hinterland posts in Chanderkot Sector, the Army Commander was briefed by the Commanders on ground about the prevailing security scenario and the preparedness of the formation in dealing with the situation in light of the revocation of Article 370.
Situation in Doda-Kishtwar-Ramban region is peaceful and daily needs of people are being met despite certain restrictions. The Army Commander was also briefed in detail in formation’s role in maintaining a peaceful and conducive environment in the area of responsibility in Doda and Kishtwar districts. The Army Commander praised the synergy between the Army, J&K Police and the civil administration in maintaining peaceful law and order situation. The Army Commander also praised the people for showing restraint and faith in the Government policies by maintaining a peaceful and conducive environment in the region.
He directed that all assistance be extended to the people and troops should reach out to people so as to reduce there hardships. Medical and logistics support be provided to the needy, he directed.
The Army Commander, during his visit to both the sectors, interacted with the soldiers and complimented them for their unwavering dedication to duty, selfless devotion and high standard of professionalism. He was appreciative of the measures and Standard Operating Procedures instituted by the units and formations in their area of responsibility to minimise the casualties due to ceasefire violations, infiltration bids and the terrorist initiated incidents.
The need to be prepared for effectively meeting current emerging security challenge was also reinforced. He exhorted all ranks on the need to remain vigilant to counter the nefarious designs of the adversary and directed that the response should be strong and effective. The Army Commander appreciated the preparedness and most importantly the morale of the soldiers.
