Man held for insulting woman judge

KANNUR, Mar 8:  Police took into custody a petitioner in Kannur family court after he presented his chappals as  a gift to a woman judge on the occasion of international  Womne’s Day today.

According to police, the man V V Prabhakaran, who was also a functionary of ‘Prathikaranavedi’, presented his chappals wrapped in a newspaper and kept them on the table of the woman judge Prasannakumari, around 1100 hrs before hearing of the cases for the day began.

He resorted to this insulting act in retaliation to the judge dismissing his petition against his wife seeking  divorce, on March 6.

Kannur Bar Association President C Krishnan said the association would file a case before the police for action against Mr Prabhakaran, a retired railway employee who had also committed the offence of posing himself as a lawyer and appearing for some gullible petitioners in the family court.
