JAMMU, Mar 8: The indefinite dharna of casual labourers of Power Development Department (PDD) in support of their demands entered 18th day today.
Under the umbrella of All J&K Casual Labourers Union (AJKCLU), the casual labourers today gathered in the office premises of Deveopment Commissioner, Power (DCP), Janipur near here and raised slogans against the wrong policies of the Government. Later under the leadership of chairman, AJKCLU, Syed Mohd Iqbal, accompanied by State vice-president, Akhil Sharma and senior vice-president, INTUC, Jugal Kishore, the casual labourers staged dharna in the premises of DCP.
The speakers reiterated their demand of publication of list of casual labourers in the local newspapers as well as on the official website of PDP. They said that the list of casual labourers from Rajouri and Poonch divisions are still lying pending to be published in the newspapers.
They also requested the administration to release the amount of Rs 6.50 crore to liquidate the pending dues of casual labourers.
