SAMBA, Mar 9: To inculcate the importance of sports among the border youths, two days “Rural Sports Festival” being organized by Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) commenced today at Mahal Shahan in Ramgarh.
On the occasion, JP Singh, Director, Department of Youth Services and Sports was the chief guest, who declared the festival open.
District Youth Services and Sports Officer Jarpal Singh presented the welcome address.
He said that in the discipline of Volleyball 15 teams, in Kabaddi eight teams and in Tug of War eight teams are participating in this festival representing their panchayat and local clubs.
While speaking, JP Singh, apprised the border youths about the importance of the sports in the day-to-day life.
He impressed upon the youth to participate in the sports activities to keep their body mentally fit.
In Kabaddi, Panchyat Nanga defeated Panchayat Dug Chhani by 38 points, Mahal Shahan thrashed Chack Balotran by 23 points and Panchayat Swankha trounced Rakh Abtal by 34 points.
In Volleyball, Panchayat Gho Brahmana beat Panchayat Nanga by 2-0 sets, Dug Burmola outplayed Tiger Club Ramgarh by 2-1 sets, Panchayat Swankha defeated Chack Chatta by 2-0 sets and Panchay Abtal Chowni thrashed Chack Balotran by straight 2-0 sets.
In Tug of War, Panchayat Mahal Shahan defeated Panchayat Swankha.
