JAMMU, Sept 15: Advisor to Governor, K. Vijay Kumar inaugurated and laid foundation for a series of projects envisaging development of sports infrastructure to facilitate players of the region.
Advisor inaugurated illumination of K.K Hakku Hockey Stadium at Jammu which was established with Rs.75 lakh.
Advisor also laid foundation of synthetic hockey turf at K.K Hakku Stadium which will be raised with an estimated cost of Rs 600 lakh.
Later, the Advisor inaugurated new light system (illumination) at Mini Stadium at Parade.
After inauguration, a friendly hockey match was played at K.K Hakku Stadium under the newly set up light system.
The Advisor interacted with the players and asked them to play with true sportsmanship. He stressed upon the younger generation to adopt sports activities which is pre-requisite for laying foundation of a healthy and disciplined life. He underlined the importance of youth’s participation in sports activities saying that that it opens up new vistas of progress and prosperity for them.
Divisional Commissioner Jammu Sanjeev Verma, Secretary J&K State Sports Council Dr Naseem Javaid Chowdhary besides other senior officers of the concerned departments were present on the occasion.
