RAMBAN, Sept 25: Banihal and Ramsoo police arrested five persons including a Ludhiana resident along with contraband including poppy straw, cannabis and heroin.
As per police sources, on specific information, a team from Banihal Police Station laid a naka near T Chowk and intercepted a truck.
During checking, police team recovered 20 kilograms poppy straw from the truck and arrested the driver, who has been identified as Satpal Singh, son of Dara Singh of Ludhiana Punjab.
Meanwhile, Banihal police also arrested a person along with 200 grams cannabis from Dulligam road. The accused has been identified as Rayees Ahmed Hajjam, son of Abdul Aziz of Tantraypora, Tehsil Banihal, District Ramban.
In another similar incident, a team from Ramsoo Police Station laid a naka and arrested three persons along with 60 grams of heroin.
The arrested persons were identified as Rajesh Singh, son of Pyari Singh of Chenani District Udhampur, Somraj, son of Shankar Dass of Katra, District Reasi and
Mohammad Nazir, son of Farman Ali of Talwara, District Reasi.
Cases under relevant sections have been registered at Banihal and Ramsoo Police Station and investigation started.
The arrest was made by SHO Banihal Inspector Abid Hussain, SHO Ramsoo Inspector Javed Ahmed and Incharge Police Post Jawahar Tunnel SI Sameer Ahmed under the supervision of SDPO Banihal Sajad Sarwar, Additional SP Ramban Sanjay Parihar and SSP Ramban Anita Sharma.
