JAMMU, Mar 12: A joint meeting of Jagti Tenement Committee (JTC) and Soan Kashmir Front was held here today under the leadership of Shadi Lal Pandita to discuss problems of the displaced people.
While commenting on the statement of Minister of State for Power, Vikar Rasool who has stated that Jagti migrants have an outstanding of 6.92 crore and they will be provided adequate power supply only after the outstanding is cleared.
Mr Pandita said the migration of Pandits from Valley was not as per their sweet will but due to failure of Government to protect them. The Pandits suffered huge losses in shape of their property and crops. The residential houses belonging to community and their business establishments were either razed to ground or they collapsed due to heavy rain fall and snow as there was no one to look after them. The fruit yielding and non fruit yielding trees were forcibly cut and community was not paid even a single pie as compensation by the Government, he added.
This all happened due to the failure of Government to protect the community and ensure their safety and security as enshrined in the Constitution. Instead of restoring their homeland to community the Government was adding to its problems which will not be tolerated, he added.
