JKPYC chief seeks judo mat arena for players

JAMMU, Oct 15: A delegation of Pradesh Congress Committee led by its president, Uday Chib and Ranjoot Singh, National Player Judo submitted a memorandum to the Director Sports, University of Jammu, seeking adequate facilities for the student players.
In the memorandum submitted to the Director Sports, Chib said that the judo players reading in various PG Departments and colleges affiliated to University of Jammu are facing severe problems due to lack of facilities and infrastructure in the State. He said that judo, has remained an important game in the arena of world of sports and also known as mother of all martial arts, needs a proper promotion by providing better infrastructure for its upliftment.
“It is further submitted that judo has remained an important game in the sports history of University of Jammu and the players of University of Jammu have brought many medals in zonal, junior/senior national and all India university competitions,” he said.
“We also want to submit that the judo players of Jammu University do not have facilities like other universities of the country as the judo mat arena has not been provided to the players despite the demand for this has been raised for many years and despite the assurance made by the university authorities the players have not been provided the judo mats arena which is very essential for the promotion of game,” he said.
Ranjoot Singh National Player Judo mentioned the judo players of University are playing judo inter college on wrestling mat arena for the last so many years due to which judo players had got several kind of injuries in the past.
Ranjoot Singh appealed to the Director Sports of University of Jammu to provide judo mat arena in the University Sports Gymnasium Hall so that better faculties should be provided to the young and enthusiast judo players.
