36 kanal encroached Forest closure cleared, area fenced

POONCH, Oct 17: The Forest Department with the assistance of Police and Forest Protection Force removed encroachment from a Forest closure and fenced the area in Mendhar Sub Division.
Official sources said that Forest Range Officer Mendhar along with SHO Police Station Gursai, FPF staff and officials of Forest Range Mendhar, has re-established closure on open patch of evicted 36 Kanal area in presence of Executive Magistrate in Khasra No. 327, Compartment No.153/M village Nar, Mendhar Range of Poonch Forest Division.
The Special Tribunal vide order dated 25-09-2019, directed SSP Poonch to ensure implementation of courts order dated 20-09-2019 in letter & spirit. In this regard, through another order, Forest department and Police department jointly fenced the evicted area despite resistance from the land grabbers. Last evening the encroachers along with other locals not allowed Forest staff to fence remaining portion and even manhandled Forest staff for which an FIR was also lodged at Gursai Police Station.
Again, during last night the accused persons namely Azad Khan from Nar and others damaged 50 poles barbed wire for which an FIR is being lodged in Police Station Gursai. In order to implement Court directions and to give strong message to encroachers, today a joint team of Forest & Police department has re-fenced the area under the supervision of SSP Poonch & DFO Poonch & overall guidance of CF West Circle, Jammu.
As the encroachers are habitual offender, therefore, DFO Poonch has requested District Magistrate Poonch to register case against offenders under PSA on the basis of latest advisory issued by PCCF office. The Police has also raided some houses in search of offenders.
