JAMMU, Oct 18: Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Sanjeev Verma declared open 42nd Stag J&K State and Inter District Table Tennis Championship in an impressive and well attended function at Indoor Complex, MA Stadium, here today.
275 players from various districts of the State are taking part in the Championship. The participating districts include Srinagar, Anantnag, Pulwama, Bandipora, Shopian, Kulgam, Poonch, Udhampur, Kathua, Rajouri, Doda and Jammu.
The chief guest interacted with the players and encouraged them to play the game with sporting spirit.
Prominent among those present at the inaugural ceremony were Ravi Singh (DSO); Rajan Sharma, Secretary J&K TT Association; Satbir Singh, Vice President TT Association; Dr Ratnakar Sharma, Satish Gupta, SP Singh, Vikas Gupta, Ajay Sharma, Sandeep Khadotra, Meenu and Gurvinder.
The Tournament is being organized by J&K Table Tennis Association under the banner of Table Tennis Federation of India and the tournament is sponsored by J&K State Sports Council.
Two minutes silence was observed in the memory of late Minham Reshi of Srinagar, a national player and a Srinagar district champion who lost his life 5 days ago.
