JAMMU, Oct 20: The procession to commemorate the Chehlum (40th Day) of Shodaye Karbala was taken out from Dargah Peer Mitha Sofi Shah under the banner of Anjuman-e-Imamia Jammu. People from different faiths paid tributes to the martyrs of Karbala. The procession passed through its traditional route Lakhdata Bazar, Rajinder Bazar, Ghaas Mandi Chowk, Wazarat road and culminated at Karbala complex.
Maulana Syed Ali Badshah Naqvi Imam, Jumma addressed the gathering of mourners before the procession was taken out. He passionately narrated the martyrdom of Imam Hussain and his companions at Karbala and he also impressed upon the values of Karbala and sacrifice of Imam Hussain. The mourners paid homage to Imam Hussain by taking out Alam and Tazia procession.
President Anjuman-e-Imamia, Syed Amanat Ali Shah said that to commemorate the 40th day of Shahadat of Imam Hussain a blood donation camp was also organized at head office Karbala Complex in collaboration with All Ladakh Muslim Student Association Jammu. He added that we learned from this great sacrifice that we should always remain on front to help the needy. He sacrificed everything for the sake of humanity and Islam. He further added that after 1440 years people still observed Moharram with same passion.
The mourners were also expressing their solidarity with people of Bahrain, Yemen, Palestine. However, in various sermons the clerics said that Karbala teaches all the communities to come out of ignorance and fight against those who are killing and committing atrocities across the world.
Keeping the sense of communal harmony alive once again Jammuites showed the example of brotherhood as people from different communities participated in the procession.
While presenting vote of thanks after culmination of the procession, Ajayz Naqvi, joint secretary, Anjuman-e-Imamia Jammu said that we are thankful to the administration and all the departments for their unconditional support to make this event a success. He also complimented all the Anjumans like Anjumans of Poonch, Kashmir, Anjuman-e-Haidery New Plot, Anjuman-e-Hussaini Bathindi, and All Ladakh Muslim Students Association Jammu, volunteers of Shaheed Mutahiri Library New Plots, volunteers of MEWSL Hostel Bathindi.
