POONCH, Oct 20: A dozen sheep and goats were crushed to death while 16 others injured by a speeding truck near Bhata Durian in Gursai area of Mendhar on Jammu-Poonch highway this morning.
The mishap took place when the nomad, Mohd Farooq, hailing from Bagnoti village in Nowshera, was moving on-foot along with his sheep/goats on the road. He was coming from Mughal Road side. The truck driver escaped from the spot.
Gursai Police rushed to the spot and seized the truck No. JK02S/5466 while its driver was absconding. SHO, Gursai Insp Sanjay Gupta said that driver has been identified and a case FIR No. 82/ 2019 has been registered against him. The Police was searching for the driver, he added.
