JAMMU, Oct 21: Police arrested four drug peddlers including two Punjab residents along with contraband.
As per police sources, on specific information, a team from Jhajjar Kotli Police Station led by Inspector Rajesh Khajuria under the supervision of SDPO Nagrota Mohan Sharma laid a naka and intercepted a Swift car bearing registration number PB08EG-1157.
During checking, police team recovered 14 kilograms of poppy straw concealed in the tyres of the car and arrested two persons, who were traveling in the vehicle.
The arrested persons were identified as Malkeet Singh (driver), son of Joginder Singh of Bajwa Kalan Tehsil Shahkot District Jallandar Punjab and Bhupinder Singh, son of Amar Singh of Kot Guru, District Bathinda, Punjab.
Meanwhile, a team from Talwara Police Post led by SI Ashiq Ali apprehended an accused from Sirla Bhaga area, who was wanted in a case registered under FIR Number 218/17 under section 363 and 376 RPC with Police Station Reasi.
The accused has been identified as Mukesh Sharma, son of Krishan Chand of Koundrian Tehsil Katra District Reasi. During his personal search, 68 grams cannabis and 41.30 grams opium were recovered.
During questioning, the accused disclosed that the other accused person who fled away from the spot was Hem Raj (Owner of Capri at Bhaga) of Bhaga who is also indulged in the business of smuggling narcotics drugs in this area with him.
The whole operation was conducted under the supervision of Vaseem Mehmood, DySP Headquarters Reasi, Shiv Kumar Chauhan Additional SP Reasi and Rashmi Wazir, SSP Reasi.
In another similar incident, a team from Satwari Police Station by SHO Inspector Gurmeet Singh while on naka duty on Chatha Road intercepted a motorcycle bearing temporary registration number.
During frisking, police team recovered 30 grams heroin from the possession of the rider and arrested him.
The arrested person has been identified as Pardeep Gupta, son of Ashwani Kumar Gupta of Shakti Nagar, District Jammu, at present Preet Nagar, KC Colony.
Cases under relevant sections have been registered at Jhajjar Kotli, Reasi and Satwari Police Stations and investigation started.
