‘Sarbat Da Bhalaa’ Hockey Tournament

JAMMU, Oct 22: Punjab State Power Corporation Ltd, SGPC Amritsar and Peaks XI registered resounding victories over their rivals to advance in the ongoing ‘Sarbat Da Bhalaa’ Hockey Tournament, being played at KK Hakhu Astroturf Hockey Stadium, here.
In the first match, Punjab State Power Corporation Ltd team defeated Guru Nanak Nagar Hockey Club in an easy contest by four goals to one (4-1). Gurpreet Singh was adjudged player of the match.
In the second match, SGPC Amritsar Hockey Academy drubbed BSF Jammu by three goals to one (3-1). Ravi Deep Singh who secured 2nd hat-trick of the tournament was declared player of the match.
In the penultimate match of the day, Peaks XI beat Khalsa Club by 3-1. Vishal Deep Singh was adjudged as the player of the match.
S. Jatinder Singh, Director Food, Civil supplies and Consumer Affairs Department was the chief guest in the first match, S. Harpinder Singh Parcharak of SGPC Amritsar was the guest of honour.
S. Hardeep Singh, Staff Officer BSF was the chief guest in the second match.
Mr Singh while interacting with the teams appreciated the young players for displaying good skill and for playing the game with sportsman spirit.
S Jarnail Singh CEO, Peaks Auto was the chief guest in the 3rd match.
Today’s matches were supervised by S. Manjit Singh of PSPCL Patiala, S. Paramjit Singh, S. Jagjit Singh Khera, Dalbir Mehta, Ashwani Bhatti, Gurjit Singh, Karanjit Singh, Karanjit Singh, Iqbal Singh and Tournament Director S. Satvir Singh Satti.
Prominent among others who witnessed the matches were former national player Waryam Singh, Joginder Singh Jinda, Beant Singh, Gurdeep Singh, TP Singh, Kamaljeet Singh, Narinder Singh and Jaswinder Singh.
Khadur Sahib Hockey Academy will take on Peaks XI at 1.30 pm, SGPC Amritsar will lock horns with Surjit Hockey Academy at 3 pm tomorrow.
