Sukriti wins girls title in Sport Climbing C’ship

JAMMU, Oct 24: Sukriti Kumari of Shining Star Academy, Muthi, Jammu won the prestigious Girls title of the J&K State Open Sport Climbing Championship which concluded at Sprawling Buds ICSE School, Bantalab, here.
In a tough contest with Sunandini Bhagat and Sania Sharma of Sprawling Buds ICSE School Sukriti climbed a hold more to emerge victorious.
Since, Sunandini and Sonia climbed the same height the result had to be determined on the basis of time taken to reach that point and accordingly Sunandini bagged the Silver medal.
Similarly, Namrita Rajput also of Shining Star Academy, Muthi bagged the Sub Junior Girls title. Thus, Shining Star Academy which had claimed a silver and a bronze medal on the opening day emerged as a force to reckon with in the new crop of climbers.
However, the first three positions in the Mini Boys category were shared by Sutikshan Partap Singh of Sprawling Buds ICSE School, Harsh Kumar of Elite Public School, Udheywala and Adarsh Koul of Sprawling Buds ICSE School.
In the valedictory function, Arti Sharma, Principal of Apple Kids School, Bantalab was the chief guest who along with Ram Khajuria, Secretary, Indian Mountaineering Foundation North Zone Committee and Yogeshwar Kumar, Vice President Mountaineering Association of J&K presented medals to the winners of the various categories.
