PHE workers stage protest demonstration

SAMBA, Mar 15: PHE workers held a strong protest demonstration in support of their demands at the Division office here today.
A large number of low paid workers of the department including daily wagers, consolidated and CP workers under the leadership of Surinder Singh, district president assembled at the main PHE complex in the town here in the morning and started protest demonstration. They were shouting slogans in support of their demands.
While addressing the gathering, Surinder Singh expressed serious condition over the dilapidated condition of pumping stations in district and demanded that these stations be repaired and required facilities be created for the working staff. He demanded that benches and chairs be provided and emergency lights/ torches etc be issued to the staff working at pumping stations.
Mr Singh further demanded that CP and daily rated workers be provided salary in time every month. It is unfortunate that they are not paid for months together. All the workers be paid their dues before 10th of every month. He also demanded that seniority list should be prepared and displayed on board and then DPC be conducted without any more delay. A clear policy should be framed for the regularisation of CP/ daily rated and other category workers of the department. Later, a memorandum was also submitted to the Executive Engineer for concerned PHE Minister.
General secretary Achat Kumar, senior vice president Maqbool Ahmed, vice president Roop Chand and others also addressed the gathering.
