JAMMU, Nov 8: Foundation Day of Bharat Scouts and Guides was celebrated here in which 200 Scouts and Guides along with the heads of various institutions participated.
Dr Saleem-ur-Rehman, Director General Youth Service & Sports (Ex-Officio Vice-President of J&K Bharat Scouts & Guides) was the chief guest whereas Anuradha Gupta, Director School Education, Jammu presided over the function.
Sohail Kazmi, Nasreen Khan, Raj Bharti and Sakina Bano-all Advisors of Bharat Scouts & Guides were guests of honour.
On this occasion the Scouts and Guides presented Scouts & Guides stickers to dignitaries, VIPs, friends and others as a token of acclaiming them strong upholder and maintainer of the benign-movement.
I.D Soni, State Commissioner gave a brief of the importance of this day and it was followed by cultural items.
Dr Sri Ram Memorial Awards were conferred upon to year’s Best Scout Masters and Guide Captains-Kulsama Nabi, Syed Mukhtar Ahmad Andrabi and Sameer Ahmed Bhat from Kashmir and to Veena Vaid and Madan Mohan Sharma from Jammu while Medals of Merit were also given to S. Harbans Singh, Sunita Gupta and Renu Sharma by the chief guest.
Usha Chuni, S. Sehaj Singh, M.M Joshi, M.M Sharma, S.K Jain, R.P Kotwal, K.L Sharma, Manjeet Kour, Bimla Handoo, Ashok Sharma, S. Harcharan Singh, Shampal Singh Slathia, Suresh Kumar, Harvinder Kour and Kanchan Sharma were also present.
