NEW DELHI, Mar 18: The Lok Sabha today plunged into chaos when Samajwadi Party members protested against Union Steel Minister Beni Prasad Verma’s remarks that SP chief Mulayam Singh Yadav has links
with terrorists and he harbours notorious criminals.
The House was adjourned till 1400 hrs.
As soon as Zero Hour began, members of the SP trooped into the Well of the House, demanding Mr Verma’s resignation and regret over
his remarks against Mr Yadav at a gathering at Kutubganj Bazaar in
Gonda yesterday.
Shailendra Kumar(SP) said when Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar
Shinde made remarks against Hindu terror, he later expressed regrets
over his comments and so on the same lines Mr Verma should also voice regret over his remarks against Mr Yadav.
Mr Verma in response said he did not make such comments and terror has no caste, religion and colour.
Not satisfied with Mr Verma’s response, Mr Yadav got up and said he has always supported those Muslims who have talked about the welfare of the country.
He said he has always been a votary of the cause of the Muslims as even the Sachchar Committe has made a strong case in favour of the minority community.
Mr Yadav also demanded that Mr Verma express regret in the House for his comments.
Sensing the defiant mood of the agitating members, Speaker Meira Kumar adjourned the House till 1400 hrs. (AGENCIES)
