UDHAMPUR, Nov 23: Govt Higher Secondary School Garhi Udhampur celebrated its Annual Day Function with pomp and show, here today.
School Magazine ‘Prayas’ was also released on the occasion.
District Development Commissioner Udhampur, Dr Piyush Singla was the chief guest on the occasion whereas VK Koul, Principal DIET Kud was the guest of honour. Chief Education Officer Udhampur, PD Sharma presided over the function.
Balwan Singh, Chairman BDC block Udhampur was special guest.
A colorful dance and song program was presented by the students.
Haider a student of 11th class enthralled the spectators by his spectacular dance and a dogri group dance and song presented by the girls mesmerized the audience.
Earlier, Sunil Sharma, Principal of Govt. Hr. Sec. School Garhi presented welcome address.
District Development Commissioner Udhampur in his address praised the Principal, Staff and students who took keen interest in organizing the function.
Praising the initiative for School Magazine, he did not fail the cite a few lines he had written for magazine while he was in 6th standard.
A long pending demand of compound wall of the school was solved by the District Development Commissioner Udhampur by announcing that he would release the amount for the purpose out of his special grant.
He also awarded the meritorious students and national sportsmen of the year of the school, with medals and mementoes.
