16 scholars present papers on impact of budget at BGSBU

RAJOURI, Mar 19: In order to groom young scholars, Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University held Budget discussion on the J&K State Budget 2013-14 in its School of Management Studies, here.
16 scholars took part in the discussion and highlighted the positive as well as negative impact of the State Budget on the society.
The programme was organized in the Conference Hall of Department of Management under the supervision of Prof SK Gupta, Head of the Department, while Vice Chancellor Prof Irshad Ahmed Hamal was chief guest.
Registrar, Mohammad Rashid Choudhary, Special Secretary to Vice Chancellor Suneet Gupta along with all faculty members of MBA Department, other staff and students of the school participated in the programme.
In the programme, Prof SK Gupta presented welcome address and highlighted the importance of Budget discussion for the scholars of the department.
16 scholars namely Sana Wani, Shabnum Aziz, Musharaf Nabi, Marif masood, Puneet Gupta, Malik Zahoor, Banlana Sharma, Upneet Khajuria, Azhar Hussain Shah, Amir Nazir, Mubashir Jahan, Anisha Bashir, Neeraj Sharma, Shipa Suri, Junaid-ul-Islam and one faculty member Jatinder Kumar presented well prepared papers on various aspects of the Budget.
During the discussion, the scholars highlighted positive aspects of J&K Budget viz provision meant for orphan girls for their marriage, help of Government in uplifting downtrodden society in education sector, tax concession for farming community, empowerment of panchayats, reducing of VAT on Atta, Maida and other eatables in Hostels, relief to tourist industry, release of pending pension for old age and widows, Ban on various items of Tobacco, allocation of funds for cancer treatment and opening of 500 livestock centres. Various scholars also highlighted the shortcomings of Budget.
Terming knowledge as power, Prof Hamal said that this power can conquer any success.
Anchored by Zubair Khaki and Ubaid Raja of MBA, the programme was coordinated by Assistant Professor’s Aasim Mir, Dr Gaurav Sehgal and Vinay Kumar.
Later-on, certificates were presented to the participant scholars by The Vice Chancellor and other guests.
