POONCH, Dec 8: Notwithstanding the tall claims of the Public Health Engineering Department of providing safe drinking water, the residents here in Mendhar township of Poonch district and adjoining villages, are complaining that muddy water supply is being provided to them for the last several weeks.
Residents of many villages like Gohlad and main township complained that PHE Department has failed to provide hygienic drinking water to the people. They alleged that the matter was brought to the notice of the concerned authorirties as well but no improvement in the water quality has been noticed. They appealed to the PCB authorities and District Health department to lift water samples and take cognizance of the matter.
A local social activist Imran Khan said that many residents often suffer with the water borne diseases. The local doctors have many times advised the people to consume boiled/ safe water. The silence of the concerned Administration, Health officials and and PCB authiorities over the issue, is something sholcking for the general public here, Khan maintained.
