LG reviews situation arising out of Zojila pass closure

LEH, Dec 12: Lieutenant Governor (LG) Ladakh RK Mathur reviewed the situation, which has arisen due to closure of Zojila Pass.
In view of the sudden closure of the Zojila pass by the Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, LG Ladakh RK Mathur called an emergency meeting of the top officials of the UT, which was attended by Advisor and Commissioner Secretary.
LG gave directions to immediately assign a Nodal Officer from Kargil House in Srinagar to visit Gagangeer and Sonamarg to look into the welfare of the stranded passengers of Leh and Kargil.
The Administration of UT Ladakh wrote to the Divisional Commissioner Kashmir to revisit the decision of closing the Zojila Pass before time and take steps to reopen the road so that stranded passengers can be facilitated and move from both sides of Zojila.
In addition, MoD and the Ministry of Home Affairs have also been requested to intervene and provide immediate sorties of IL 76 to evacuate the stranded passengers by air.
The matter is being closely monitored by the LG Union Territory of Ladakh RK Mathur.
