JAMMU, Dec 16: J&K president of All India Jat Mahasabha, Choudhary Manmohan Singh today said that the Sabha is in touch with J&K administration over the issue of OBC category for Jat community.
“I and my team visited the last Governor of J&K state, Satya Pal Malik, several times on the issue of OBC category for Jat Biradari in J&K. We also met with the then Chairman of State Commission for Backward Classes, Jammu, to discuss the reservation issue,” Choudhary Manmohan said, while addressing the Jat community during a meeting of the Sabha in tehsil Bari-Brahmana.
He said as a result of our efforts, our file is now in Social Welfare Department and is going through the process of filing recommendations. “Soon, I along with my team will meet the authorities again on this issue,” he added. He further informed that last month they also met with Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and raised the border related issues with them.
During the meeting, Manmohan also formed a tehsil level committee of Sabha for Bari-Brahmana tehsil. The committee comprised of Ch Raj Singh Randhawa as president, Maan Singh and Capt Des Raj as senior vice presidents, Capt Manmohan Singh and Capt Sikander Singh as vice-presidents, Gurjeet Singh as general secretary and Sain Choudhary and Capt Raj Kumar as secretaries.
Ch Manmohan Singh asked the committee members to reach out to every family and bring their issues to his notice so that he and his team can raise these concerns with the respective authorities.
