In reply, Saurashtra were also struggling at 26/2 in 17 overs at stumps on Day-1 today. Skipper Sidhant Rana (5) and Rishi Patel (4) were at the crease when stumps were drawn today. For J&K, Dhruv Singh Parmar was the successful bowler, who took one wicket, while another batsman was run out by debutant Nityam Abrol.
Earlier, winning the toss and batting first, Jammu and Kashmir lost wickets at regular intervals in gloomy weather conditions and managed to score 121 runs in 40.3 overs. Yawer Hassan top scored with 29 runs, while Govind Sharma contributed 23 runs to the total. Dikshant Kundal and Nityam Abrol also contributed 15 and 13 runs respectively, while none of the other batsmen could reach the double figure mark. For Saurashtra, speedster Neel Pandya (NP) was the wrecker-in-chief, who took 6 important wickets by conceding 42 runs in his 14 overs, while P Rana and Yuvrajsinh took 2 and one wicket respectively.
After Mahesh Pithiya ‘MP’ show in J&K’s match against Baroda, a few days back, who wrecked havoc by taking 13 wickets, it was ‘NP’ who won the hearts by capturing 6 wickets today.
At this stage, the match is almost equally poised. The team which holds its nerves better in the crunch situations will emerge as victorious.
