Kargil, Dec 23: A blaze, allegedly due to short circuiting, has caused massive damage at District Hospital (DH) Kargil.
Sources informed that machinery and equipments worth crores of rupees were damaged in the fire while all the patients were safely rescued by the local people and firefighters.
At least five fire tenders were pressed into service and it took at least five hours to douse the blaze with the active support of army personnel, policemen, SDRF team and locals of the town.
Acting Chief Executive Councilor Kargil, Aga Sayed Abass told reporters that trauma center of the hospital has suffered massive damage in the inferno.
He also said that a Committee has been constituted to assess the losses and it will submit its report soon.
Hospital authorities assured that serious patients and those who were recently operated in the hospital will be airlifted for better health treatment outside the district.
