JAMMU, Dec 27: Swashbuckler Abdul Samad, who was recently bought for Rs 20,0000 by Sunrisers Hyderabad for IPL-2020 season, today butchered the Assam bowlers and scored a cracking century along with Shubham Khajuria in the ongoing Ranji Trophy Elite Group C match at GGM Science College Hostel ground, here today.
Abdul Samad scored power-packed unbeaten 103 off just 72 balls, studded with 7 fours and 8 sixes. He was in awe-inspiring touch and scored his century in just one session after the lunch break, while Shubham Khajuria, on the other hand, took 180 balls to score magnificent 138 runs with the help of 21 fours and one six. Debutant Henan Nazir also showed glimpses of his talent and skill, hitting the ball with utmost ease to score splendid 66 runs off 92 balls including 8 fours and 2 sixes. The trio of Khajuria, Samad and Henan showed composure and promise and hit the ball with fluidity, grace and utter brilliance.
Earlier, resuming from an overnight total of 210/2, Jammu and Kashmir lost the 3rd wicket at 294 runs in the form of Khajuria. However, Henan and Samad took the score to 345 runs, before the fall of 4th wicket. Skipper Shubham Singh Pundir contributed 24 runs off 38 balls, while wicketkeeper batsman Fazil Rashid remained unbeaten on 12 runs off 12 balls with the help of 2 boundaries.
J&K finally declared their first innings at 460 runs after losing 5 wickets.
From Assam, Roshan Alam took 3 wickets, while Arup Das and Riyan Parag claimed 1 wicket each.
In reply, Assam were 22 for no loss at stumps after the bad light stopped play today.
Rishav Das (9) and Rahul Hazarika (8) were at the crease. For J&K, the duo of Mohammad Mudhasir and Rohit Sharma bowled 4 overs each, conceding 14 and 3 runs respectively.
