Assembly in session

Sir,
The budget session of J&K assembly is proving to be a mockery of the democracy. From the very beginning the case of Afzal Guru has remained a tool for disruption of proceedings of the assembly by the opposition. The main opposition PDP has even decided to boycott the remaining session of the assembly in protest against the Central Government’s decision for not handing over the body of Guru to his family members. This should not have happened in the assembly as he was executed after passing through various channels of the judicial process and after exhausting all the legal remedies available.
The decision of not handing over the body might be due to the law and order problem which could be pursued later also. The charges of misbehaving  with a lady member by the leader of another opposition party BJP has also kept this party outside the house. How an assembly can function in the democratic set up when most of its opposition members are outside the house. While opposition is indispensable for sound working of the democracy, such opposition should be healthy, sincere and serious. To be adamant on a point and not to allow the smooth functioning of the house gives the indication of non seriousness and irresponsible attitude of the opposition. They have wasted much of the precious time of the house which otherwise could have been used for discussing the problems of common masses. They are much interested in making issues out of the non issues.
The opposition for the sake of opposition does not give any fruitful results. They do not agree on any matter with the government except the enhancement of their own salary and perks and daily allowance. Instead of showing their muscle power in the house they must justify their salaries and other benefits by giving full time for useful discussions in the house. I suggest that there should be a specific course for MLAs / MLCs which can train them for proper proceedings in the House and also can make them aware about their duties and responsibilities.
Yours etc
